On the side I design and build custom websites for service businesses: pressure washing, landscaping, home services, and the trades. The model is simple. I build you a free preview first. If you love it, you pay a flat $10.46 build fee and the site goes live. Hosting is pay what you want, monthly, with no contract. Updates are a text message, done within a day. I keep a small client list so every site gets my full attention. This is real client work, not a portfolio of mockups. How much does a website cost for a service business?
With me, $10.46 to build, one time. Hosting after that is pay what you want. Agencies charge $3,000 to $10,000 for the same web design work. I keep it low because I'm building my client list and my reputation.
What if I don't love the preview?
Then you walk away and owe me nothing. The preview is free. No deposit, no awkward phone call. That's the whole point.
Do I need a contract?
No. There's nothing to sign. You pay once for the build and the site is yours. If you ever want to leave, take it with you.
How does pay-what-you-want hosting work?
I keep your site live, fast, and backed up every month. You pay whatever you think that's worth. Some months that might be nothing. No contract, and updates are a text away.
How long does it take?
The free preview is usually ready within a week. Once you approve it, going live takes a day or two.
